A Recommendation
If you’ve been in any conversation with me in the last two weeks, you’ll have heard me rabbiting on about this book. It. Is. Brilliant.
Divine Conspiracy - Dallas Willard unpacks how we can live transformed lives in the Kingdom of God. It’s a bit meaty though so take it slow. I listen along on Audible as I read which helps too.
Simple Discipleship - Doing What Jesus Did
This week’s episode focused on the third and final goal of a disciple: do what Jesus did. We also looked at a few practices to help us :)
I think it will encourage you to step out in faith a bit more.
You can read it here, or listen along on your favourite podcast app here.
#ReadFor30Together
We’re starting Relaxed by Megan Fate Marshman on the Monday 4th November. It’s probably my favourite read of 2024 (I’ve read it three times already!)
Find out everything you need to know here (links/reading plans etc.), get your copy ready, read the intro (and I always love reading the endorsements too), and you’ll be good to go for the 4th!
Pages: 4th 9-16 | 5th 16-24 | 6th 25-35 | 7th 36-41 | 8th 45-53
Questions for the week ahead
I loved reading Soul Keeping by John Ortberg. In it he writes about ‘soul fatigue’ and the indicators: things bother you more than they should, it’s difficult to make simple decisions, cravings and impulses are harder to resist, you tend to favour short-term gains over long-term wins, your judgement is suffering, you have less courage.
But God invites us into soul rest, where our souls can catch up with our bodies. Slowing down, praying, enjoying God’s creation - all the things we see Jesus doing throughout the Gospels.
So that’s informed the questions this week. Grab a cup of tea and have a think.
Are you experiencing any of the indicators of soul fatigue?
How can you let your soul catch up with your body this week?
-
How can you keep that up long term?
‘Sustaining practices’ are practices that fill us with grace for life. We’ve been learning about some of them on the Simple Discipleship podcast. What one practice could you look to incorporate into a daily, weekly or monthly rhythm that fills you with grace for life?
Hope your weekend is filled with peace as you rest in Him.

Dwell and enjoy.
